Reading, writing and maths are basic life skills. This program helps children having difficulty with one of these skills at primary school.
It is designed to give one-to-one assistance to children who are struggling in a classroom environment and is available to schools in Australia and New Zealand.
Trained volunteers from businesses or the community become buddies to selected children and visit them at their school to help enhance children’s skills with one of the three R’s, their self-esteem and their motivation. Each volunteer works with a child one-to-one for 45 minutes every week for between 10 and 15 weeks.
The content of the program is modelled on best practice and developed by a team comprising a psychologist, teacher and speech pathologist. Volunteers are trained and supported by professionals.
This program is designed to help school aged children attending school in Australia and New Zealand.
